Fellowship

Social Events
Any group within the church may occasionally sponsor some event, often as a social event/fundraiser. More frequent social events such as concert or play attendances, visit to places of interest, potlucks, etc., are arranged by the Events Committee.

United Methodist Men (UMM)

The ESUMC Men's Group meets the 2nd Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in Room 1. The Mission of the group is to foster spiritual growth by assisting and inspiring each member through group fellowship in seeking, finding and doing God's will in our congregation and the world community.
Meetings include devotional, spiritual and thought provoking messages. Meetings may include speakers on appropriate topics, day trips, fund raising and activities the group are interested in pursuing.
All men in the church and community are invited. For more information call or email Ron Kamb
, President of ESUMC, UMM, at 510-223-7579.

United Methodist Women (UMW)

Two UMW women's groups, called Circles, meet monthly (with the exception of July and August). There is an open invitation to either circle.

  • Hannah Circle - meets the third Monday of the month at 7:15 p.m. in the evening.
  • Sarah Circle meets the third Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the morning.

Two months each year are devoted to special national UMW mission programs. Others may focus on a selected book. There is always time at each meeting for supportive fellowship and refreshments.

For more information call or email Charlotte Neyhouse, President of ESUMC, UMW, at 510-758-5876.

Crafty Ladies

Crafty Ladies meets Wednesday afternoons at the church from 1 to 4 pm. There are occasional evening meetings on the third Thursday of the month. Women work on a variety of crafts and enjoy each other's fellowship. Products of the women's work are sold at the annual Holiday Sale, to be held the second Saturday of November. Typically this one day sale raises $5,000 - $7,000 for church projects.

Annual Women's Retreat

An annual event for creative renewal. Sponsored by ESUMC, it is open to any woman regardless of church affiliation. The common bond is the enjoyment of quiet (and sometimes rowdy) times, meditation, work on chosen projects (painting, needlework, puzzles, cards, conversation). Rules: no men, no children, no drugs or alcohol. Good food cooked and cleaned up by the retreat staff.
